- The seven physicians of Mid Tennessee Bone and Joint (MTBJ) Clinic located in Columbia, TN, provide a complete range of orthopedic services to people of all ages for problems related to accidents, injuries, disabilities or degenerative diseases. A desire to improve A/R and automate business processes led MTBJ to select UHS for improved management of their work comp claims. Beginning at patient scheduling, UHS is now managing front end claim eligibility and treatment approvals as well as back office billing and collections functions.

- Located in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, Bert Fish Medical Center is a 112 bed not-for-profit acute care facility offering a wide variety of emergency, inpatient, and outpatient services. To improve collections, reduce patient access workloads, and automate back office billing, collections, and cash application functions associated with handling work comp claims, the hospital has implemented UHS’s complete portfolio of work comp claim management services.
- Florida Hospital Flagler, a 99 bed hospital that also operates a free standing outpatient surgery center and urgent care center, provides services in the fields of Neurology, Family Practice, General Surgery, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Emergency Medicine, Anesthesia, Radiology and Vascular Surgery and provides business health services to employers in and surrounding Flagler County, Florida. To better streamline processing work comp claims internally and improve revenues on the injured workers they treat, the hospital has engaged UHS to provide its expertise and technology.

- The Health Care Center of Miami, with two locations serving South Florida for over 30 years, is now using UHS to manage its work comp claims from the initial patient visit through the payment posting process. For both locations UHS will handle verification of all work comp claims, treatment authorizations, billing, and collections. Additionally, UHS will maintain all employer and carrier information for Health Care Center of Miami clients as well as claim specific information for its patients receiving treatments for work related injuries.

- Unified Health Services has been engaged by Sonrise Medical to handle the verification, authorization, billing, and collecting of work comp claims for their patients prescribed ThermoTek’s VascuTherm Compression Thermal Therapy System. The device is used to reduce edema associated with soft tissue injuries and pain which are common in work comp patients. Sonrise Medical is using UHS because of UHS’ expertise in managing work comp claims from initial verification of the claim and authorization of services through payment.
- Florida Hospital DeLand, part of the 37 hospital Adventist Health System, has implemented UHS services to reduce unpaid accounts, improve collection yields, and automate processing and handling of its work comp claims and receivables. UHS will manage the hospital’s work comp claims beginning with benefit verification at patient registration and ending with automation of cash application. The hospital provides a wide variety of medical care related to the treatment of work comp injuries including emergency, surgical, rehabilitation, and an orthopaedic center of excellence.

- Genesys Occupational Health Network (GOHN) has implemented UHS services to facilitate their mission of providing efficient claim processing services to the employer community they serve. GOHN, with headquarters in Burton, Michigan, is part of Genesys Health System and Ascension Health. GOHN provides comprehensive health services and is equipped to care for minor and major emergencies. GOHN also has specialists in the area of rehabilitation, orthopedic surgery, neurology, and physiatry.

- Unified Health Services participated in the 6th annual Urgent Care Association of America (UCAOA) meeting and the annual American Association of Orthopaedic Executives (AAOE) meeting. UCAOA exists to provide leadership, education, and resources for the successful practice of urgent care while AAOE is dedicated to providing education and resources to orthopaedic practice executives and staff members. Additionally, UHS sponsored the PFS Directors Conference for Adventist Health System based in Winter Park, Florida.

- The International Association of Industrial Accident Boards and Commissions (IAIABC) hosted a recent seminar to bring together state work comp regulatory authorities, payers, and clearinghouses who are building electronic work comp billing and payment systems. At this session, discussions centered on regulatory requirements and technical solutions to facilitate E-billing initiatives. UHS’ Don Kilgore, at the request of IAIABC, represented medical providers on a panel to discuss how work comp E-billing affects the typical medical provider.

- Summit Medical Group has over 200 physicians in 50 office locations and 10 hospitals serving patients in 9 counties in the East Tennessee region. As SMG has grown it has found the need to automate and streamline work. To reach these goals with how its work comp claims are handled, SMG selected UHS as a partner. - All Texas based Adventist Health System hospitals now use Unified Health Services to manage their work comp revenue cycle. Metroplex Health System in Killeen and Rollins Brook Community Hospital in Lampasas are the latest AHS hospitals to implement UHS expertise and technologies to manage work comp claims from patient registration to cash application. Adventist Health System supports 37 hospitals comprising 6,600 plus licensed beds across the U.S.
- Opening a new clinic is an excellent opportunity to establish best practices day one and when capital is tight the bottom-line is important. For these reasons, Tennessee Occupational Health, Inc. wanted UHS to manage its work comp claims at its newest location in Knoxville, TN. UHS technologies and knowledge drive lower processing and administrative costs as well as maximizing cash flow and collection rates for the clinic.
